P: Na początku istniało tylko światło, bezkresne morze
i krążący pod postacią łabędzia nad przepastną otchłanią bóg Świętowit. Bogu dokuczała samotność. Spostrzegł jednak na wodzie swój cień. Postanowił więc oddzielić cień i ciało związane z cieniem. W ten sposób powstali bogowie Swaróg i Weles.

 

 

 

 

E: In the beginning there was only light, the infinite sea, and God Swietovit in the form of a swan. God was lonely. He noticed his shadow on the water. So he decided to separate the shadow and the body.
 Thus the gods of the Swarog and Weles.

 

P: Swaróg ze światła uplótł łódź i zamieszkał w niej, kołysząc się na falach. Weles zanurkował w głębiny i tam spędzał większość czasu. Jednakże obu bogom znudziła się monotonia morza i zapragnęli stworzyć stały ląd.

 

 

 

E: Swarog made the boat from light and settled in, swinging in the waves. Weles dived into the depths
and spent most of his time there. But the two gods were bored with the monotony of the sea and wanted
to create a country.

 

 

 

 

P: Swaróg namówił Welesa, aby ten zanurkował
aż na samo dno otchłani i przyniósł mu garść piasku.
 W czasie zbierania piasku Weles miał wypowiedzieć formułę z magicznych słów, która by zawierała ziarno współpracy. Weles miał wyrzec formułę

P: Weles dwukrotnie nurkował, ale nie mógł dosięgnąć dna bezkresnego morza. Dopiero przy trzeciej próbie, wypowiedziawszy poprawną formułę, udało mu się dosięgnąć dna otchłani i schwycić garść piasku.
 Jednakże Weles chciał stworzyć ziemię tylko dla siebie, więc kilka ziaren piasku ukrył w ustach.

 

 

 

E: Weles dived twice but could not reach the bottom
 of the infinite sea. It was only after the third attempt, having reached the correct formula, that he managed
to reach the bottom of the abyss and grab a handful
 of sand. But Weles wanted to make the earth just
for himself, so a few grains of sand hid in his mouth.

P: Po wynurzeniu się Weles wyciągnął dłoń ku Swarogowi. Swaróg wziął z jego dłoni kilka ziaren piasku i rozrzucił po powierzchni wody. Piasek po zetknięciu z wodą zamieniał się w suchy ląd i rósł.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

E: As he emerged Weles reached out to Swarog. Sawarog took a few grains of sand from his hand and scattered
 on the surface of the water. The sand turned into dry land when it came in contact with water and grew.

 

P: Również ziarenka piasku w ustach Welesa zaczęły rosnąć. Weles zmuszony był do wyplucia pęczniejących ziaren. Tam gdzie splunął zaczęły piętrzyć się góry. Kolebka świata stworzona przez bogów była niewielka.

 

 

 

 

E: Also the grains of sand in Weles mouth began to grow. Weles was forced to spit out the swelling seeds.
 Where the spit began to pile up mountains.
 The cradle of the world created by the gods was small.

 

P: Na tej niedużej wysepce dwaj bogowie ledwie się mieścili. Samolubny Weles postanowił sam zapanować
nad światem i postanowił zepchnąć Swaroga do morza
i utopić w otchłani. Kiedy tylko Swaróg zapadł w sen, Weles podniósł go i zaczął nieść w kierunku brzegu.
Ale gdy próbował zbliżyć się do brzegu, brzeg odsuwał się dalej w morze. Świat osiągał coraz to większe rozmiary
w miarę tego, jak zdesperowany Weles niósł Swaroga
 do morza. W końcu zrezygnował.

E: On this little island two gods had little land. Selfish Weles decided to take control of the world himself
and decided to push Swaroga into the sea and drown
in the abyss. As soon as the Swaróg fell asleep, Weles picked it up and began to carry it toward the shore.
 But as he tried to get closer to shore, the shore moved further into the sea. The world was getting bigger and bigger as the desperate Weles carried Swaroga to the sea. Finally he resigned.

 

 

 

 

P: Kiedy Swaróg obudził się, spostrzegł, że ląd się powiększył. Weles z radością przekazał mu wiadomość
o tym, że świat stale się powiększa. Na początku obaj byli zadowoleni, ale Swaróg po pewnym czasie zaczął się niepokoić, że niebo stanie się zbyt małe i nie będzie zdolne dłużej przykrywać lądu. Mimo że podzielił się z Welesem swoim niepokojem, ten nie chciał go słuchać i niczym się nie przejął.

 

 

 

 

 

 

E: When Swarog woke up, he noticed that the land was growing. Weles happily conveyed to him that the world was constantly expanding. At first they were both satisfied, but after some time the Swarog began to worry that the sky would become too small and could no longer cover the land. Although he shared with Weles his anxiety, he did not want to listen to him
and he did not care.

P: Swaróg zaczął więc podejrzewać, że Weles coś przed nim ukrywa i stworzył pszczołę, którą wysłał
 na przeszpiegi. Pszczoła siadła cicho na ramieniu Welesa
i śledziła jego poczynania. A Weles z morskich fal stworzył kozła i zaczął z nim rozmawiać. Śmiał się z głupiego boga Swaroga, który nie potrafi powstrzymać rozrastania się świata. Weles opowiedział kozłowi, że wystarczy kijem wyznaczyć wszystkie strony świata, aby ten przestał się rozrastać.

 

 

 

 

  

E: Swarog began to suspect that Weles had hidden something from him and created the bee he sent
to the spy. The bee sat quietly on Weles' shoulder and followed his actions. And Weles from the sea waves created a goat and began talking to him.
He laughed at the silly god Swarog, who could not stop the world from growing. Weles told the goat that it would be enough to designate all the sides of the world
 to stick.

 

 

 

 

P: Kiedy pszczoła wróciła do Swaroga i opowiedziała mu, co słyszała, ten skręcił z fal i ze światła kij, wyznaczył nim wszystkie strony świata i rzekł "Wystarczy Ziemi". Świat przestał się rozrastać i stał się takim,
jakim go dzisiaj widzimy. Bogowie popatrzyli na siebie
 i zaczęli się kłócić o panowanie nad niebiosami.

  

  

E: When the bee came back to Swarog, she told him what she had heard. Swarog made waves and light the stick, put it around the world and said, "Enough of the Earth." The world stopped growing and became what we see today. The gods looked at each other and began to argue about the dominion over the heavens.

 

P: Ale tego Świętowit nie mógł już ścierpieć. Zawołał Swaroga i Welesa do siebie i podzielił pomiędzy nich świat. Swaróg miał panować nad lądem, a Weles miał rządzić pod ziemią. W ten sposób krainy bogów zostały rozdzielone i Welesowi przypadła w udziale Nawia, kraina gdzie bóg mógł wypasać na łąkach dusze zmarłych ludzi. Swaróg zaś stał się bogiem ognia, słońca i ziemi.

 

 

  

E: But he could no longer resist. He called Swaroga
and Weles and divided the world between them.
The Swarog ruled over the land, and Weles would rule under the earth. In this way the land of the gods was separated. Weles ruled the land of Nawia, where God could feed the souls of the dead in the meadows. Swarog has become a god of fire, sun and earth.
